The surrounding area of Vilamoura have some of the finest golf courses in Europe. The nearest course being Vila Sol which is within walking distance.Another 10 minutes drive away are Laguna, Pinhal, Millenium, Victoria, Vale Do Lobo and the 2 courses at Quinta Do Lago. San Lorenzo and Pinheiros Altos are located a further 5 minutes away.

There are two all weather tennis courts in Al-Sakia village which are free to use. Tennis rackets and balls are provided in the apartment.

In addition there are over 20 flood lit tennis courses and 2 squash courts in Vilamoura.

Around the marina in Vilamoura, there are a large number of various restaurants, including Chinese,  Mexican, Thai, Italian, Indian, Swedish and of course Portugese. 

In addition to the restaurants there are also a large selection of coffee shops, snack bars, ice-cream parlours and bars/pubs.

A large selection of designer, perfume, shoe, pottery, home decoration and souvenir shops can be found around ther marina in Vilamoura.

The famous Algarve Shopping Centre in Guia is an indoor shopping centre which is only 30 minutes drive away.

The Romans first settled in Vilamoura in the 1st century AD.This settlement has left traces of distinct civilisation at the Cerra da Vila site. The remains of a noble mansion, or Villa, a public spa, some fish salting tanks or cetaria, foundations of a burial tower and a port area are a testimony as to how important the Roman presence was in this region.
